Methodology

Temperament Counseling is a wholistic Inner Healing method based upon the theory of temperament, which states that we are created with a specific set of intellectual and emotional needs, the “Temperament”. When those needs aren't met in a healthy manner in submission to Jesus, we tend to accumulate self-destructive, unhealthy habits, attitudes, and desires to fill those voids. Many times we can't explain why we've adopted these behaviors, which is what counseling aims to address, uprooting the issue to help you to discover your identity, the one whom God created. He desires to restore the broken person, making them whole.

At birth our personality and temperament are identical, but as life happens, our personality is shaped by our experiences, choices, interaction with others and our willingness to surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. The difference between personality (life created) and temperament (God created) is a good indicator of the amount of stress, pain, or anxiety in a person’s life. The basic way of differentiating personality and temperament is best described as your personality is you with your clothes on (the mask, covering, hidden) and your temperament is you with your clothes off (vulnerable, exposed).

Recognizing first that we are spiritual beings wrapped in flesh, Temperament Counseling focuses on understanding the inner man/soul (mind, will, emotions), the person without the mask, uncovered, hidden. The soul is the area where we think, feel, and choose. Every choice, every decision is made from the soul.  It's our filter in following what we desire versus what God desires for us. Knowing and understanding what's affecting our soul (negative or positive) can help us properly balance every part of us - spirit, body, and soul. Sessions are designed based on individual need, through guidance of Holy Spirit, to help you fully grasp who God created you to be before the trauma, the abuse, and environmental and social interactions were affected by the world.
